THE RIVER WAR

We are delighted to announce that our first event of the year will be held on March 21st when James Muller, at the invitation of Hill Riddle, will take us back to 1899 as he tells the story of the fighting and writing of The River War: An Historical Account of the Reconquest of the Soudan”, in two volumes.
The event will be at the Jackson Andrew Condominiums, 1550 Second Street, NOLA commencing at 6 pm with wine, soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres. The event is free to Members and their guests. Professor Muller’s presentation will commence at 6:45.

From the University of Alaska Website: On April 5, 2021, University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) political science professor James Muller published the definitive edition of “The River War: An Historical Account of the Reconquest of the Soudan” by Winston Churchill after more than 30 years of meticulous work. This        is the first time in over [sic] a century that the story has been told and published in its entirety. Muller’s book…is the first unabridged edition        to appear since Churchill himself published the first edition in 1899.

From the International Churchill Society’s Finest Hour, February 2022: This definitive edition is a contribution of monumental significance to the preservation and understanding of Churchill’s life and work. No praise is too great for Professor Muller, St. Augustine’s Press, and the International Churchill Society for their labors in the production of these remarkable volumes.
